Legislator Cornell Testifies Against United Water Proposed Rate Increase

New City, NY  (April 24, 2014) - Rockland County Legislator Harriet Cornell testified yesterday before the NYS Public Service Commission (PSC) concerning a rate increase application filed by United Water New York.  The hearing was held at Felix Festa Middle School in Clarkstown. Cornell urged the PSC to deny the rate increase and any increases to management salaries or compensation.  Cornell sited mismanagement by the company in failure to file mandatory reports, lack of cost-benefit anyalyses on capital projects, failure to apply for property tax adjustments that would have reduced tax assessments, and poor customer relations.   Cornell pointed out that…
