[Pearl River] – Pearl River School District’s Parent University announces its next parent education workshop for 2013-14.

A panel of local experts will be presenting “Mom and Dad, Can You See What I Feel?” The session takes place on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Pearl River High School’s Pirate Cove.

The workshop aims to help parents and caregivers recognize when their teenager is struggling with emotions and behaviors spanning depression, anxiety, self-esteem, social anxiety, and self-harm.  Often, teenagers’ words do not indicate what these emotions “look like” internally to them. Open to all parents and other adults working with teenaged adolescents.

Panelists for this presentation are Laurie Cargulia, LCSW; Patrice Carrieri, LCSW; Lora Mattiaccio, LCSW; and Jessica Nobile, LMSW from the Turning Point Behavioral Health Center in West Nyack, NY.

The program takes place in the Pearl River High School Pirate Cove, located at 275 East Central Avenue.  Take the first entrance off of Central Avenue into Pearl River High School and continue all the way around the building to the gymnasium/cafeteria parking lot. See signs for Pirate Cove.

All Parent University programs are free and open to all parents everywhere.  Pre-registration is not necessary.  The Pearl River PTAs are co-sponsoring this workshop. For additional information, contact the Pearl River School District Continuing Adult Education Office at 620-3921.
